Visited Jounetsu Billy in Aomori City. This ramen shop is known for its niboshi (dried sardine) based broth. Ordered their signature “Baku Nibo.” Like it. The interior of this shop was fashionable. It was like a Jazz cafe rather than a ramen joint.

Visited Sakamoto Shokudo at lunchtime today. This is a long established shop in Aomori City that only locals know.
First, I ordered their Shoyu Ramen. And then, I asked for the Curry Rice. Both dishes had the nostalgic look and taste. It was as if I had gone back in time and been eating in a household of Showa-Era (1926-1989) Japan.

Went to Goshogawara City today. About a 40-minute drive from Aomori City. On the way back, I chanced upon Daikokuya ramen shop and ate the “Shinasoba” there. The soup broth is made from yakiniboshi, or roasted dried sardine (typical Aomori style). Noodles are old-fashioned thin-cut, curly type.

Late last night, a heavy snow fell in Aomori City. This morning, I had to remove the snow from my car. It was tough.
Tried the “Noko (Rich) Chuka Soba” at Narumi for lunch today. The first time for me to come to this shop. Yakiniboshi, or roasted dried sardine, is used as a base for the soup stock. The noodles reminded me of the sofuto-men (soft-type noodles) that would be served at school lunch when I was a student.

Had dinner at a branch of Handaya restaurant tonight. The exact name of the establishment is “Taishu Shokudo Handaya.” Taishu Shokudo roughly means “an inexpensive eatery for common people.” They serve nutritious dishes at low prices.
